Girly 30th Birthday

This is a card I made my sister, it was a few weeks ago but I never got round to sharing...so here it is!

I layered up the two sheets of paper, glued, and then die cut a circle from them to frame the "30".  From the bottom of the green section I die cut the "birthday" and inlaid a die cut I'd made from white card.  The happy is again inlaid into the pink card.

Recently I've started thinking more about the inside of my cards.  I generally add a paper insert, but not always, especially if it's a white card or colour that can be written on.  For this card I decided to add a strip of the patterned paper to the inside of the card, as you can see on the bottom photograph.

Mother's Day #2

This is the second Mother's Day card I made.  Partly due to my limited stamping supplies, but also because I was pleased with the first card I made I used the same set and colour combinations.

As you can see in the close up, I die cut the "happy" from the main card base and inlaid the pink die cut...this is a technique I have seen used a lot around blogland and I wanted to give it a go.  The flower I free cut as I haven't bought the dies, but as I'm using the "You Are" set a lot I think I might have to invest!

Mother's Day #1

This is one of the card's I made for Mother's day, which in the UK was a couple of weeks ago.

I was keen to use the "window" style card base as I was given these for Christmas.  I had no idea where this card was going when I started but I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.

Dad's Birthday

It’s my Dad’s birthday on Monday, so of course a card was called for! (I’m not sure he’s ever found my blog so I’m pretty sure it’s safe to share).  I took inspiration from CAS(E) this sketch #38…but I missed submitting it to the challenge as Blogger was playing up last night. Never mind!

I bought some more core’ dinations cardstock that arrived this week, so I grabbed this! I’ve used card from both the “brights” and “dark” sets.  For a coordinating card I cut up the folder that I received my graduation certificate in – thanks University of Southampton, great colour choice =) I stuck the strips I’d cut directly onto the card using some trusty Pritt Stick.  The sentiment and shape I printed onto card and cut out, I stuck it to the card using foam squares.  I finished off with a little detailing with the enamel dots.

Hopefully he’ll like it!

Hope you’re all looking forward to the weekend…we’re moving house on Monday so I have a weekend of cleaning ahead of me!...hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze in some more card making at some point.

Graduation

One of my best friend's graduated this week as a doctor, much deserved after years of hard work and dedication, and she's having a party this evening to celebrate...so of course a card was required!

I searched the internet to try and get some inspiration for a doctor-themed graduation card but got absolutely nowhere.  I drew myself a sketch to include elements of "doctor" (stethoscope) and "graduation" (mortarboard), I also quite liked the idea of putting the year in there too.

I am not entirely happy with the card, I think its a bit boring...but it is what it is and I think she'll still like it.

The stethoscope and mortarboard I printed directly onto the card (my stamp collection doesn't stretch that far!).  I added enamel dots both the images to try add some detail, I also added glossy accents to the stethoscope to try and make it more interesting.

The 2013 I cut using numbers from Memory Box and the orange paper I embossed using Swiss Dots EF. I raised up the sentiment on foam pads to again try and make the card a bit more interesting which definitely helped.

That's all from me today. Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Seeing Spots

Sorry for going quiet for a little while, it has been a busy week or so in our house! Had my in-laws staying with us at the weekend which was lovely but meant there was no time for blogging.

It is my sister-in-laws birthday next week so I wanted to make her a card.  I have also just bought the "You Are" stamp set from CBS, so I couldn't wait to use them.  I saw this weeks sketch on CAS(E) this sketch and instantly came up with the idea of what I wanted to do.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

I used what is meant to be the middle of the flowers to stamp the circles, following the same layout as the sketch.  I then added a glossy accents to a few of the circles to make them pop, I then couldn't resist adding a couple of pink enamel dots to finish it off. The sentiment I printed onto card, I am really lacking stamps for sentiments so I think this will have to be my next investment, I've also seen some gorgeous digi stamps at Pink Petticoat which I'm really tempted by too.

I'd like to enter this card into both the CTS #35 challenge but also the Clearly Besotted Challenge #2.

Supplies:
Stamps - CBS "You Are"
Ink - Versa Color 34 Orchid and Memento Lilac Posies
Enamel Dot - My Mind's Eye "Cambridge Court"
Glossy Accents, Dovecraft pink twine

Thanks for visiting, please do leave a comment as I love reading them and getting some feedback.
